Best Places to Live in London for Families

Best Places to Live in London for Families

Whether you are relocating to London or simply moving to a more family-friendly area of the city, you will benefit from some expert advice on which neighbourhood to choose. We have taken into account value for money, schools, safety, and the number of recreational activities – for both children and adults! – in order to create a list of our recommendations for the best family-friendly neighbourhoods in London.

Richmond

The area of Richmond was voted the safest and happiest place to live in London. It offers convenient transport links into central London via the underground, an over-ground railway station and plenty of bus routes. Richmond also has a low crime rate, and 28 schools in the borough achieved an ‘outstanding’ Ofsted rating. One of the main attractions for moving your family to Richmond is, of course, Richmond Park – a natural escape spanning 2500 acres, perfect for deer spotting, walks, cycling and picnicking. For families less interested in the great outdoors, there are three cinemas, two theatres and Twickenham Stadium in the area as well.

Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace is part of the borough of Bromley and is well-known for its family-friendly park that features dinosaur models, an urban farm, a maze and a sports centre. In 2019 the average housing price for Crystal Palace was just over £400,000, which means houses in this area are great value. The area has a low crime rate, an abundance of independent coffee shops and lunch spots, and even includes one of the highest points in London, with picturesque views over the rest of the city.
